Mark served his mission in Mexico City and its been four years since he got home. He has been eager to go back, and I really like Mexico. So it was a no brainer. Luckly many of Mark's converts and members let us stay at their homes so we didn't have to pay for to many hotel stays, and food. We had so much fun we can't wait to go back.
This is Leila, one of Marks converts and Tito (Roberto). They let us stay at their house and showed us all around Mexico City.
The first day they took us to so many beautiful parks. This one had mutiple water falls and a bridge going across the gorge.
They had a zip line that you could go across the gorge. it looked pretty fun and this guy did it up side down.
Next they took us to a fish hatchery. Where you can buy fresh fish after you get done with feeding them. Leila is an animal lover so she didn't like that they killed them right there.
next to the hatchery there is a beautiful pond that you can rent paddle boats or canoes.
After that we made our way into a little minning town Real de Monte. Its cute town, lots of shopping and not a lot of white people. So we got a lot of looks. We went on a tour bus and some of the people were pretty funny taking pictures of Mark and I. They tried to hide it but they weren't very good.
This is the beautiful city.
Mark trying on a very expensive and old minnors helmet that they wore back in the day.
That night we made our way to Pachuca and got ice cream. It was amazingly cold.
That sunday we spent the day with the Perez family. They are a great family. Mark used to live in the apartment behind their house.
Later that night Leila took us over to her uncles house to get a whisk. While we were there they showed us this great ship they built in the back yard for all the family to play on. Its great.
Leila and her sister first time making muffins. They were having tons of fun.
The next day we went to down town Mexico City. Its was beautiful. Tons of statues and and great buildings. This is a sinking art theater that the inside has tons and tons of marble.
At this art theater there were these wood statues. They were pretty neat.
This is a post office. beautiful.
They had real gold doors on it. But because of the times they switched them out to fake gold.
This is the building we were in at the very top. They had a meuseum with Mexico City history.
This is what Tito called the government building.
Mark and I on a tour bus going around Mexico City.
This is Leila and Chilanga (vanessa) they had to go to work so we went on a tour bus with Tito.
There were so many buildings and statues I couldn't put all the pictures up.
In the city they have all these bikes everywere. You can pay to have them for the day, or if you live in the city you can buy passes and ride whenever you want. Its a pretty neat concept.
At the end of our tour we were driving by this what seemed to be a lady. I guess I was staring to long cause she/he, yes he posed for me.
The next day we went to Teotihuacan. Which is a town with these great pyramids. And some of them you can climb all the way up to the top. But they are very steep.
You can see the sun and the moon pyramid in the background here.
You have be very careful coming down. In some places people would sit on their bottoms and come down step by step.
Our long and hot treck up the sun pyramid.
Finially at the top. Good thing there was a small breeze at the top. But no shade.
Slow and scary treck back down.
This is the sight form the middle of the moon pyramid. They wont let you go all the way up yet, they have to make sure the steps are safe. But we walked all that in one day. And if you notice no shade.
On our way back. I was fried! If you can see my awesome tan line in one day that i caught to late.
Me after dinner by this giant cactus. This cactus was in some ones drive way.
That night waiting for hermano david to get home we found CHURROS!! My favorite! If you can't tell. They had carmel, strawberry, and chocolate in the middle. I wish I could find these in the states.
After visiting with Hermano David.
Marks awesome sun burn after the pyramid treck. Pretty nice.
The next day the Perez family took us to this far away but beautiful town called Taxco Guerrero. Its a silver mining town. Mark got his new wedding ring there.
This was a saddle mark found in one of the shops covered in silver.
In one of the churches they showed us this great floor. If you look at it this way the floor looks like its got a peak.
And if you look at it this way it looks like its got ruts.
In the streets they have all these mosaic pictures. They are great.
That next day we traveled to Queretaro. The first night we stayed with the Alvarez Family. The girls were free so they could take us around Queretaro.
Annalaura, me, and blanca.
We stopped in one of the many churches to cool off, and I tried to pray for cooler wealther. It didn't work.
Sun bathing in our hotel pool. It was intersting there must have been a wedding cause there was a large family fighting from the windows of their room down to the pool. They smoked like chimneys and the large dad was wearing a speedo.
This was our last day and we wanted to shop a bit. Mark found these giant shoes. I was just wondering who they would fit. I don't think I saw anyone taller than Mark there.
There was a fair down the street form here. But there was a wedding right behind us with a mariachi band to the right of Mark. Also if you look close the lady in the orange hat is filling her water bottles with the foutain water. Yuck!
Trying to cool off and sit for a bit before the long walk back.
That night on our anniversary. Went out for dinner and then shopping.
Saying good bye. Los arcos. Interesting story. A man wanted to marry a nun. She told him only if you bring water to my people. It took him years, but he built this aquaduct traveling to her. Then he had to build a house for her, but after he built the house she refused him and he soon died after that.
On our last sunday we were fed by the Becerra family. They fed us pasole, it was so good.
At Sara's house Mark trying on Payton's wrestling mask we got him.
